 Channels is situated within one of England’s newest and most vibrant cities - Chelmsford in Essex. This well-connected county town has a rich history and today offers a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities, plus fast and frequent access to London and beyond.

Located within the grounds of the beautiful former Channels Golf Course, yet under 3 miles from Chelmsford city centre, life at Channels strikes the perfect balance between tranquil country life and busy city living.

Over the next two decades Channels will sit within development of the wider Chelmsford Garden Community which will become an exemplar development delivering a wide range of exciting new facilities, attractions and amenities for the existing and new community alike. 

The Local Area

With a rich heritage, beautiful green spaces, first-class sporting, leisure and arts facilities, shopping, dining and a vibrant nightlife, there is something for everyone in Chelmsford. 

The growing Channels complex provides a mix of bars and restaurants as well as health and leisure and a successful wedding venue.

Little Channels, to the west of Essex Regiment Way, provides further facilities with a range of sprots and leisure, family golf, driving range and café bar and restaurant.

When it comes to retail, the centre of the city is a shopper’s paradise. The Meadows Shopping Centre boasts nearly 40 high street stores as well as coffee shops and an Odeon cinema. John Lewis will be opening its doors in 2016 adding to the choice of department stores in the city, including Debenhams, whilst Chelmsford’s selection of independent stores adds to the variety available to shoppers.

Chelmsford’s other leisure facilities include the Civic Theatre, which has a varied programme of drama, comedy, children’s shows and film screenings throughout the year.

When it comes to indulgence, Chelmsford has a restaurant to suit every palate and budget. Essex-born celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has his own Italian Trattoria on the High Street, whilst other city centre eateries include well-known chains like Café Rouge and Zizzi, while Thai, seafood, Chinese and Indian restaurants are also close at hand.

Easily accessible from Beaulieu is The Lion Inn at Boreham, a restaurant which features in the Michelin Guide along with its sister eatery The Blue Strawberry at Hatfield Peverel.

In addition, Beaulieu Square is set to benefit from a café/restaurant plus a supermarket, selection of shopping outlets, a new health centre plus day nursery.

Transport

Channels is situated to the North East of the city of Chelmsford, in a highly accessible adjacent to the the A130 and within easy reach of the A12 (jct.19).

Chelmsford is a key location for commuters into London as it benefits from good road links enabling easy access to the A12, M11 and M25 motorways. Stansted Airport is just 18 miles away by car via the A130/A120, whilst Chelmsford railway station offers regular services to London Liverpool Street in just 35 minutes.

In the future Commuting from the Channels will become even easier thanks to a brand new railway station planned at Boreham for the wider Chelmsford Garden Community development. In addition there will be a new relief road which will connect residents to Junction 19 of the A12 and a new bypass will be delivered providing excellent connection to the north towards Stansted Airport.
